Bella has been adopted!
Age: 8 yo
Weight: 4.75 lbs.
Location: Toronto
Adoption donation: $350
Beautiful Bella found her way to CCRT as the result of an owner surrender. This cutie pie is 8 years young and is doing well in her foster home. She LOVES to play with her squeaky toys. She actually loves to play with any toy that makes noise. Her foster Mom has noted that she is her happiest when she’s pouncing on or retrieving her toys.
Bella is fairly well house trained although there have been a couple of accidents in her foster home. With the sudden change in her routine and getting accustomed to a new living environment, this is understandable. Her previous family advised that Bella is pee pad trained but she has not used a pee pad in her foster home so we are unable to confirm if she is pee pad trained at this time.
Beautiful Bellla walks beautifully on leash. She doesn’t mind humans but minds other dogs and will growl at them. She would do best if her future family does not have other dogs, cats, or young children in the home. That being said, she has one female canine friend who lives close to her foster home who she really likes and gets along well with. She may just be very choosy when it comes to canine companionship but she LOVES people so someone who works from home or who is home all day/most of the day would be ideal for her. She is a sweet, happy dog who adores being with her people.
Bella has allergies that can cause severe itching. She is on medication (Apoquel) to treat this, which is working well to control them. She feels well on this medication and is scratching very little if at all. We are still trying to uncover the cause – environmental or food. Time will tell. She has some missing hair around her right eye due to irritation from her allergies but it is now growing back as they are under control. We can’t help but notice that our little Beauty looks pirate-like at the moment while the hair is filling in.
Bella has a grade 2-3 heart murmur but is asymptomatic at this time and requires no treatment.
If you would like to adopt a cuddly, loving companion who will make you smile daily as she happily pounces on her toys and by simply just being Bella, please fill out an adoption application for her. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her, or any of our other foster dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters, by making a donation towards their care.
Cute. Cute. Cute.
I was wondering if there was a possibility of adopting from an agency closer to Ottawa or Limoges Ontario?
We are a national organization with volunteers and foster homes across Canada, including Ottawa! At this time, we don’t have any foster dogs in Ottawa but do have several in the Toronto area. Thanks for your interest in our special rescue dogs!
Would it be possible to notify me when there are foster dogs in Ottawa? I would really appreciate your help in finding my new fur baby!!! THANKS!!!
The best way to learn of new foster dogs is to follow us on Facebook and to monitor our website. Thanks!
Is there an age limit to anyone who wants to adopt one of these sweethearts?
Adopters must be at least 18 years old and sign an adoption contract.
I know you said bella does not like other dogs, but I wonder if she would come around and be ok with another older Chihuahua? Our girl is 15. We had 3 at one time but sadly the other 2 passed away due to age. Tuxx is one of your rescues. I adoped her when she was a year old. thanks, carol t
Carol, thank you for your email. We are always happy to hear from our adopters! You mentioned 2 dogs have passed away, we’re sorry to hear that. Is one of the Tuxx or Tuxx still with you? As you read in Bella’s profile, she is friendly with a dog in her neighborhood but she may be just picky when selecting her BFF. We can’t predict how she’ll do with any specific dog – she may do well, or perhaps not. It’s difficult to know how she would do with your dog unless they meet. You could submit an adoption application form to start the process if you like.
