Great news…Chance is ready for adoption!
Chance is a vibrant, handsome young dog with a zest for life and his long, athletic legs make him faster than most. This active guy would do well with an adopter who enjoys the outdoors and will offer him a balance of activity and relaxation.
This next part of Chance’s bio is important for potential adopters. Human hands trigger him. He attempts to bite hands if they are in close proximity to him. However, after several days with his foster parent coaching him, Chance stopped this behaviour. As such, an adopter that has patience and knowledge of canine behaviour will need to continue training with Chance so that he understands expectations. He would thrive in a home with an experienced owner who can provide consistent routines, positive reinforcement, and a secure environment.
Chance has shown great improvement with potty training and marking. He will go outside or use pee pads. Taking him outside regularly each day will reinforce these expectations plus it allows him to burn off energy. In typical Chihuahua fashion, he does like to bark at people, dogs, squirrels etc. and this is currently a work in progress but there has been visible improvement.
A condo or apartment would not be suitable for Chance. An adult only home with a fenced backyard would be ideal. Chance would benefit from another dog in the household of similar energy. He enjoys cuddles, playing with his toys and he also does well interacting other dogs. He needs an adopter that is confident in addressing any unwanted behaviour and one that is prepared to exercise and enrich his life.
If you are interested in adopting Chance when he is ready, and you fit all of this description of his ideal forever home, please fill out an adoption application. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her or any of our foster dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
