December 9,2019 Adopted!

Love on four paws is the best way to describe this precious, long-coat Chihuahua.  Charlie is a love-bug who is happiest when cuddling with his female human.  He is a needy lap dog who is looking for a forever family where his main caregiver will be a woman who is home most of the time with him.  He will take time to be comfortable with men in his home.

Charlie was surrendered to CCRT by his owners who dearly loved him but, due to their new commitments, could no longer give him the time and attention that he required.  Charlie needs a forever home where someone will be there to spend lots of quality time with him and also give him the exercise that a young dog needs.

Charlie is very timid with strangers and is afraid of men.  He is not at all aggressive; he just keeps his distance and avoids being petted.  It takes patience, love and understanding to earn Charlie’s trust.

Charlie is a sweet, medium-energy, submissive boy.  Besides snuggling, Charlie loves tummy rubs, going for his daily walks on leash and flying around the backyard at top speed to burn off energy.  Zoom-doggie is his favourite sport.

When Charlie first came into rescue, he had no interest in the numerous dog toys in his foster home.  Every day now, he likes to carry the toys, one by one, from the toy basket into his bed.  Then he goes to sleep surrounded by almost a dozen of his toys.  Sometimes there’s no room left for him in his bed.

When Charlie is left alone in the house, he barks for the first few minutes to protest.  He also barks loudly whenever he hears a noise, so a condo/apartment would not be appropriate for him.  His forever home needs to have a securely fenced yard where he can play and continue his house-training.  He chooses to do his business outside and does not use pee pads.

Due to his very small size and the risk of injury, any children in Charlie’s forever home should be gentle, dog-savvy and at least 10 years old.  If there is another dog in his forever home, Charlie needs it to be small, of similar sweet temperament and as playful as he is.  He is not a fan of larger dogs.

Car travel is quite stressful for Charlie, so a long-distance adoption would not be appropriate.

CCRT’s veterinarian has given Charlie a wellness exam, updated his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered him.  He has tested negative for heartworm.

If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please fill out an adoption application.  You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for him or any of our foster dogs.  Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel  for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
