Love on four paws is the best way to describe this precious, black long-coat Chihuahua.  Charlie is a love bug who is happiest when cuddling with his human.  This tiny sweetheart is waiting in foster care to bring joy to his new forever family.  Could that be you?

Charlie was surrendered to CCRT by his owners who dearly loved him but, due to their new commitments, could no longer give him the time and attention that he required.  Charlie is looking for a forever home where someone will be there to spend lots of quality time with him and also give him the exercise that a young dog needs.

Charlie is a sweet, medium-energy, submissive boy who is anxious to please his humans.  When he is extra-happy, he wags his long furry tail in fast circles, as if he’s a toy helicopter.

Besides snuggling, Charlie loves tummy rubs, going for his daily walks on leash and flying around the backyard at top speed to burn off energy.  Zoom-doggie is his favourite sport.

When Charlie is left alone in the house, he barks for the first few minutes to protest.  He also barks loudly whenever he hears a noise, so a condo/apartment would not be the best choice for him.  His forever home needs to have a securely fenced yard where he can play and continue his house-training.  He has been given the opportunity to use pee pads but chooses to go outside instead.

In the past, Charlie has lived with other dogs, cats and kids.  Due to his very small size and the risk of injury, any children in his forever home should be gentle, dog-savvy and at least 10 years old.  If there is another dog in his forever home, Charlie needs it to be small, of similar sweet temperament and as playful as he is.  He is not a fan of larger dogs.

Charlie is timid at first with strangers and is afraid of men, which is not uncommon in small dogs.  He is not at all aggressive; he just keeps his distance and avoids being petted.  High-value treats can win him over, though.  It takes patience, love and understanding to earn Charlie’s trust.

Car travel is quite stressful for Charlie, so a long-distance adoption would not be appropriate.

CCRT’s veterinarian has given Charlie a wellness exam, updated his vaccinations, microchipped and neutered him.  He has tested negative for heartworm.

If you are interested in adopting Charlie, please fill out an adoption application.  You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for him or any of our foster dogs.  Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel  for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
