And then there was One … we said Goodbye to Cocoa otherwise known as Cocoa Bean, Little Bean or Poop-poop on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 6pm.

I held her in my arms for the last time as a friend & work colleague gently let her pass on. She spent the afternoon next to my heart being carried around in her snuggle bag while I worked my shift at the vet clinic. She was happy and content, I had promised her when she was adopted that she would never be locked away ever again for the rest of her life.

Cocoa was rescued from a puppy-mill outside of Toronto after enduring 9+ years of Hell! She was thrown away like trash into a cardboard box after recently having given birth, taken by a stranger who put her up on kijiji for free. She was then taken in by C.C.R.T. thank goodness.

Cocoa endured pain her entire life and never complained, she was the sweetest little (5.5lbs) Chihuahua. She had a bad heart as well as chronic neck and back pain from being confined for so many years. She took meds 5 times a day and was still the happiest girl. She had 4 separate dental surgeries and lived the last three years of her life without teeth … no problem. She then started to gradually lose her eyesight and two weeks ago she showed signs of being completely blind … she was not coping very well with this, her little cries when she could not find me were heartbreaking. We were afraid she would severely injury herself as she could not be confined … a decision was not come to easily.

To the Sweetest, Beautiful, Loving and gentlest little soul I have known … I hope the last 5.5 years of happy memories replaced the ones from your previous life. The first time I held you, I knew I had to be your Fur Mom and that you were home … I think you never looked back!

We will miss your Happiness, your galloping down the hallway to announce you had used the peepee pad, your little bark when the heating pad turned off or your food, meds or treats were late, your enthusiastic greeting at the door, your Love of watermelon, and of course your tiny nose poking into the shower through the crack left open so you could do this. Your fur sister Cherry misses you and looks for you. Most of all I miss your warm little body snuggling into my stomach or back at night.

You are missed, your life mattered more than you can ever know, and you found your “Forever Family”.

Cocoa was adopted through C.C.R.T. (Canadian Chihuahua Rescue Transport) on May 17, 2019. We gave her that same day as a Birthday and think she was at least 14+ years old.

Rescue/adoption gives you a chance to save a life, they in turn will change yours. We gave her Love, Time & Patience (as well as fur sisters).

Thank you C.C.R.T. and Janelle (her foster Mom) for entrusting us with Cocoa … we gave her the bestest life possible. We will carry her Love, Strength & Memories in our hearts until we meet again .. . Run pain free with Storm little one.

I wish we could have one more day, one more night time snuggle … one more kiss-kiss! 🧡🐾🐾🫘🌷
