This eight-month-old cutie is a bundle of energy, curiosity and playfulness. Cookie is still in the discovery and learning phase of her life so she needs an adopter with a consistent and patient approach for her ongoing development.
Cookie tends to have a nervous and fearful nature so building trust with her foster family has been a key focus. She is also very affectionate and loveable once she becomes comfortable. Daily routines and a safe environment are bringing out a calmer side to her, and we believe this progress will continue once she settles into the right forever home.
Cookie is pee-pad trained and has started going to the bathroom outside. Praise and encouragement are helping Cookie understand expectations. She has also become good at walking on a leash a couple of times each day and happily trots along with her foster family’s dogs, although she does get startled by motorbikes, loud engines, trucks, etc. On car rides, she settles into her carrier and is calm and quiet.
An adopter with a resident dog with a similar energy level would be ideal company for Cookie. She has become good friends with her foster family’s resident pup, and they play, wrestle, and chase each other. Cookie also loves to play with stuffies, chase balls, and really enjoys chewy sticks. Regular brushing is necessary to keep her coat free of knots, although she isn’t a fan of grooming.
Cookie would not do well in a condo or apartment, as she reacts by barking when she hears random noises. This may improve over time as she matures, but it’s an unknown at this point. We want to ensure that she is adopted into an environment that sets her up for success. Additionally, we want to place her where she will not be left alone for long stretches of time. We strongly encourage you to consider the needs of this pup and your own lifestyle before applying to adopt.
