Cora (short for Corazon) wants to be your heart dog. You can’t help falling in love with her when she climbs into your arms and gives you sweet doggie kisses. She has so much love to give the forever family that she is waiting for.
This tiny girl was surrendered to CCRT by her owners who were no longer able to keep her. She is a white, short-coat Chihuahua with brown and black patches. She is three years old and weighs 4.1 pounds. Nutritious food and regular exercise will help her little body to fill out a bit.
Cora is a sweet, submissive, insecure dog who needs an adopter who will be a strong pack leader to help her overcome her insecurities and feel safe.
Cora’s ideal forever home would be in a house with someone who can be there with her most of the time, such as a retired person, or someone who regularly works at home. She is a needy dogwho does not like to be alone. An apartment or condo would not be suitable for her because she vocalizes when left by herself. Even a doggie friend can’t console Cora when there is no human there to keep her company.
Cora is a very affectionate girl who is always wagging her tail and hoping to curl up in your arms and go to sleep. She is friendly with men, women, older kids, and dogs her own size. Kids under 10 years of age, cats and bigger dogs are not appropriate for her forever home.
Cora uses pee pads, and she is also being trained to do her business outside. Her adopter will need to continue this training. When left alone in her foster home, Cora sometimes forgets about her house-training and has accidents. However, she is making progress with this as she gains more confidence and gets used to spending some time alone.
CCRT’s vet has given Cora a wellness exam, spayed her and attended to her dental needs. She has also been microchipped and tested negative for heartworm. Her vaccinations are up to date. Cora has a grade 3 luxating patella on the right leg which does not bother her at this time.
If you are interested in adopting Cora, please fill out an adoption application. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her or any of our foster dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
