Re-introducing dazzling Daisy!
We say reintroducing because since 5 year old Daisy has settled into her loving foster home, a whole new smile filled dog has emerged.
When Daisy arrived at the CCRT, her whole world was turned upside down and she wasn’t sure how to deal with all the changes. Her foster home was very patient with her and gave her the time she needed to relax and feel comfortable, and thanks to the resident Chi’s, she came around within a few days to her foster mom and has been her shadow ever since.
This fawn colored beauty is very timid and shy but once relaxed her spunky playful side shines through. She loves to play with stuffed squeaky toys and will fetch them if you throw them for her – with a giant smile on her face. Daisy also loves to go for walks and will walk along right beside you where ever you go. She does her business outside consistently and her walks give her the opportunity to leave her mark along the way . Daisy is pee pad trained but hasn’t needed them once she adjusted to the routine.
Daisy loves her foster Chi brothers but has zero interest in playing or wrestling with them. Instead, she prefers to explore around the yard with them or cuddle on the couch, but having them to show her that life isn’t as scary as she thinks has been key to her true personality emerging. A home with a balanced dog is a must for her, cats aren’t an issue but no children under 12 for Daisy just to keep everyone safe and happy as she will snap if feeling overwhelmed. A home comfortable with fear base behavior would be ideal for Daisy.
As mentioned, she is her foster mom shadow however, her foster dad still has to work for her trust. She is very timid of him when he first gets home but once he’s relaxing on the couch he is “safe” and she’s all cuddles and kisses him. She has been in her foster home over a month now and this reaction has gotten much better with him but it’s still an issue being worked on daily. She will take a bit to warm up to any new person but women seem to take a lot less time.
Daisy is a smart, sweet and shy little gal who would love a home with a fellow small dog friend and a family who understands and is able to help her work through any of her fears. Are you the right fit for Daisy?

I have an 11 year old named spike who might like a younger “sister”. We would both need someone who would like a quiet home with a very chill older brothers who gets along with others as we’re well known by cats, kids and dogs in our neighborhood. Let me know when you’ve had the chance to get to know daisy and if it might warrant a visit
Just keep an eye on her webpage and we’ll update her profile when we know more and she’s ready for adoption!
This little girl woul be a lovely addition to our home and hopefully a friend and sibling to our Luna . Luna is 8.2 lbs of pure love and I feel would do well with a sister. My home is a ranch bungalow with dog run outside back entrance . I have chi stairs to access furniture and the bed . We are ready and able to accept daisy into our home as soon as she is ready. So hoping we will be considered for her forever home with us . Thankyou

We, myself my partner and Muffin a cat are missing a warm friendly female small Chihuahua mix dog who passed August 8 this year, at 14 1/2, she truly was our shining star even though she was a special needs dog. Daisy might be similar even though no two dogs are alike. Do you deliver to Ottawa or do we have to travel, if and when Daisy becomes available?
You can learn more about our adoption process here. Thanks for considering Daisy!
Wondering if she is suitable for an apartment? Thanks!
She doesn’t appear to be a barker so she might do well. Keep an eye on her profile and when she’s ready for adoption, perhaps you’ll submit an application for her!
I am interested and in helping. Daisy looks like granny before she traveled a very hard road for many years. Ow she’s with me. 16. Meds. Vets and love.
If daisy needs a home I’m here. If any furkids need help I’m here.
Keep an eye on her profile and when she’s ready for adoption, follow the instructions noted to submit your adoption application!
We are a happy couple enjoying each other, but we have a big hole in our heart where Shantal, our Silky Terrier was resident for 10 years. She was a terrified 5 month old little sweetie when I agreed to hold her in the Pet Store. She vibrated for the first hour, but I was determined to settle her down. After another hour of shaking she did relax & began to settle into a snuggle in my arms. I just knew I had to rescue her. After a lot of debating the pet store finally settled at a 45% Reduction of their price & still she was very expensive.
She would not eat, I called our vet & had her at their clinic at 8 the next morning. Dr Gina did full exam.
Shantal’s 1 st problem was her bladder was full & her colon was full. We walked her & managed to get a urination, #2 didn’t happen. My vet said I could take her home & continue walking her. We did manage & then I needed to help her loose her fears of paper, fly swatter, big work boots and shoes, & the thresholds of both outside doors.
She never did overcome her fear of children. So we had to put her in her kennel during those times.
Also we needed to be slow with our movements, especiallly when approaching little Shantal. Her weight leveled out at 7 lbs.
Eventually, she loved her walks & enjoyed traveling.
I taught her tricks that she loved to do, knowing she got pieces of treats each time. She delighted in playing with her squeaky toys & was quite selective about which one.
Before Shantal we agreed to take in another rescue sweetie of age 5. Sandy was our darling little Chiwahwah. She was paper trained & also to green garbage bags, so I had to brake her of those & train her to go outside. Periodically she would slip, but I remained patient with her.
Both these dogs & others thru the years became our go to for snuggles.
As you can see in our story, I’ve had a lot of experience with timid dogs.
So we’d love to have little Daisy with us during her remaining years.
Keep an eye on her profile and we’ll update it when she’s ready to receive adoption applications!
