Hi! I’m Felix!

I’m an adorable little guy, about 8 years young and just over 5 pounds. I’m neutered, up to date on my vaccines, microchipped, and I even had a dental while I’ve been with CCRT, so my smile is ready to impress.

My life changed when my previous owner moved out of the country, but now I’m looking for my forever family.

I’m the kind of pup who likes to know what my people are doing. If you’re making coffee, folding laundry, or just wandering around the house, you’ll probably find me happily trotting along behind you to supervise. Someone has to keep an eye on things.

I’m learning that potty breaks can happen on walks, not just in one special spot outside. I’ve only had a couple of little accidents while settling in, and my foster family says they probably could have been avoided with a few extra minutes outdoors. I’d say I’m catching on pretty quickly.

I enjoy going for short walks, although every now and then I like to stop dramatically for no reason. Sometimes I just need a quick cuddle and a little lift before I’m ready to keep going. My foster family thinks I may not have gone on many walks before, so I’m still discovering how fun they can be. I LOVE sitting outside on the front porch, or in the back garden. I get so excited and jump at the door after walkies when it’s time for “porch time” and my foster mom is helping me learn not to bark at everyone who goes past.

At bedtime, I’m an excellent roommate. I sleep quietly through the night in my crate, and I’m perfectly content relaxing there if my people need to head out during the day.

Now, let’s talk about one of my favourite things: cozy beds. If I spot one, I’ll make a beeline for it, flop onto my back, and politely request some belly rubs. I also adore curling up beside my humans, but if there’s room on your lap, that’s where I’d really like to be. Sometimes I even perch on shoulders like a tiny parrot, and I won’t complain if you carry me like a baby up and down the stairs. (I can do stairs myself most of the time now, but being spoiled is pretty nice!)

Food is another one of my favourite things in the whole world. Wet food, kibble, cheese…you name it, I’m in! The upside? If I ever need medicine, I happily gobble it right up with a treat.

Car rides aren’t my favourite yet. I sometimes whine a little, but if you give me some gentle pets and reassurance, I settle down.

Meeting new people can make me a little nervous at first, so I might bark to let everyone know I’m not quite sure about the situation. Once I realize I’m safe, though, I settle down quickly. I might also grumble at people walking past the front porch, but if you remind me they’re just the neighbours, I’m happy to take your word for it.

Grooming – I’m very easygoing when it comes to grooming. Brushing? Love it. Bath? No problem. Looking at my teeth or ears? Go right ahead. Touching my paws? That’s fine too.

I am currently in a home with an older dog, and we do tolerate each other, but not exactly enjoying each other’s company – this seems to go both ways. I have not been around cats in my foster home, but I do enjoy chasing cats/squirrels. So it seems that I would be happy in a home where I am the only dog, and a home without cats would be best, to be safe for everyone. All the attention on me. Perfect!

I would do best with someone who is home most of the time, as I get very bonded with my person. When my foster mom leaves, I sit by the door and wait, regardless of who is still home. A house is best vs an apartment due to the activity around an apartment that would cause me to bark.

I have a secret… it is just one little thing my foster family wants you to know: I sometimes display some self-soothing behaviour that involves licking my peepee more than most other dogs. My foster family has already discussed it with my veterinarian, and if I get a gentle reminder, I stop right away.

If you’re looking for a sweet, funny, affectionate little shadow who will happily keep you company, please reach out and ask about me!

Love,
Felix
