March 31, 2020: Adoption Pending

February 18: Long distance adoptions will not be considered.

Gus came to CCRT after being surrendered with several other dogs. He has had several moves in his young life, and therefore finds it difficult to trust humans.

Due to his lack of trust, it is difficult to tell what kind of dog he will be when he comes out of his shell, but at this time we feel it would be best to continue his journey in a furever home that can continue to work with him.

Gus needs a home that is adult-only, has a fenced backyard, loads of patience, and is understanding and will continue to work on his potty training (he pees inside frequently).

He likes to play with toys and hang out with the other small dogs in the household. He loves stealing and hoarding toys onto the couch. He is very food motivated.

Currently, he allows pets only with treats or drive-by pets. He has gotten braver with accepting touch but has a long way to go. He is, however, more than happy to place his paws up on his foster mom or rest close to her.

As far as behaviours go, this one is a bit of a mystery. In his previous foster home he showed signs of being possessive over his person, barking and sometimes growling at others in the house or visitors. However in his current foster home these behaviours are not displayed (which may be due to lack of attachment to foster parent). In his current foster home he will bark initially at visitors and then settle and show some curiosity of the people in the home.

Gus needs someone who is committed to work with him, has patience is accepting of the dog he is and will become.

If Gus sounds like the guy for you, please fill out an adoption application. You can purchase a sweater and/or blanket for him, or any of our other fosters dogs.

Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters by making a cash donation towards their care.
