Adoption Pending. No further applications will be accepted.
Age: 10 months – 1 year
Colour: Tan, short hair
Alan came to CCRT in early January 2017 with little known about him. He was transferred to CCRT via a shelter.Since his arrival, his foster family has learned a lot about this funny little man in only a short period.
Alan was nervous when he first arrived at his foster home, which isn’t unusual with all the new surroundings, smells and new humans but he quickly warmed up to everyone within the first hour. His foster family has three small dogs as well as three cats and Alan fit right in without an issue. He wasn’t sure what the cats were at first but realized they weren’t a threat unless you sniff too closely in places they don’t appreciate.
Personality: A funny little character is how best to describe his personality. He loves to cuddle, get belly rubs and give kisses to his humans once he gets familiar with you. He is very curious and will follow you around to see what you are up to around the house. He is a happy little guy for sure who is food motivated and loves meal time. He grunts and makes cute noises when getting comfortable for a nap and so far doesn’t seem to be much of a barker.
Training: Alan is a very smart young boy who is eager to learn. He picked up very quickly on the dog household routine of going outside to the washroom. He did mark the first day in the house but with a few gentle corrections we haven’t had any more issues. He is crate trained and enjoys sleeping in there at night and there are no accidents to clean up in the morning. His foster family is working on basic commands with him as he doesn’t seem to have had any direction given in that area. He is working on sit and stay currently and so far, he is picking that up well.
Socialization: Alan is nervous of meeting new people. He wants to hide away when new people are around and will growl and air snap if forced or cornered. A very typical flight response for a dog. His foster family is focusing on helping Alan with this issue by slowly introducing him to visitors in the home as well as on walks and trips to pet friendly stores. Socializing will take some time but his foster family is confident that Alan will be meeting people without issue with consistency and positive reinforcement.
If you think you have the time and patience to help Alan grow into the best dog he can be then please fill out an online application.
If you are interested in adopting Alan, please fill out an adoption application. You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for him or any of our foster dogs.
Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters by making a donation towards their care.

Hello my name is Vanessa I would like to know if your do trial days ? I have two small dogs one being a Chihuahua the other a teacup Yorky and would love to see how Alan did with them. Can you please e mail me back thank you
Thank you for your inquiry. Assuming you are asking about ‘trial days’ related to an adoption, no, the CCRT doesn’t offer that. Instead, we have a thorough application process that includes a meet and greet and reference checks. We also provide post adoption support and are always here to help if you need!
hi, i am interested in Alan but would like to know if my 9-5 work situation would suit Alan. do he need around the clock company?
Alan is happy to know you asked about him. Many of our adopters and volunteers have full time jobs and we recognized this isn’t a negative thing in a dog’s life. Given that, you may wish to submit an adoption application for him!
Hi there Alan!
We are a small dog loving family with a big fenced yard, and someone home all day to cuddle you. We live mannnnny dog walks away though – all the way in Ottawa. Would you be open to travelling here to live with us? Also, I hate to ask you about your personal areas – but are you fixed yet, buddy? We will love you even if you aren’t 🙂
Belly rubs,
Sharon
We shared your message with Alan and he has dictated the following reply (he’s a horrible typer!): Hi Sharon, thanks for your message! You sound like a great family and I’d love a big yard and all day cuddles! I think I could have made the trip to visit you, but guess what – another wonderful family had already asked about me and I really like them. Like, alot! So, I’ve decided to go live with them. They have also promised tons of cuddle time along with alot of love and care. I hope you’ll be happy for me! You know what, I have alot of foster brother and sisters in CCRT care, many of them ready to move to Ottawa. Maybe you could submit an adoption application for them? I’d love to know they were as happy as I’m going to be with my new family:-) Thanks Sharon!
Glad to hear it, little buddy! Have a wonderful happily furrrever after! We will keep our eyes peeled on the site for any other little friends of yours that might capture our heart and be the right fit for our family. Congrats again and tell your human rescuers to keep up the great work! 🙂
