Maggie has an adoption pending. No further applications will be accepted.
Maggie comes to CCRT via a shelter where she arrived as a stray.
Maggie is a very sweet and gentle girl. When she is free to play, Maggie is like a new colt sprinting and jumping around. She is very fast and lithe and has the physique of a Greyhound.
She walks well on the leash but the tiniest thing will spook her so she has to be well harnessed or she will back out and run in fear.
Maggie is very skittish and jumpy and everything seems to be foreign to her. She has trust issues with everyone and everything new but eventually she warms up.
Maggie is not house trained but she is working on it with her foster mom. She does try to use pee pads, but her aim is sometimes poor. This is not uncommon with paper trained dogs.
She barks at her own reflection. The tiniest noises and movements make her jump. Maggie is hand shy and does not like being picked up or petted from overhead. If she is on the couch with you she will then let you pet her, pick her up and put her leash on. Otherwise she will run away.
She likes her food and will respond to treats. She is being fostered with 2 other Chihuahuas and often takes her lead from them. They all get along well.
Maggie has not been left alone since being in foster care she is always with the other Chi’s so we do not really know how she would react being left all alone.
Maggie is a lovely dog but will need a home with lots of patience to earn her trust.
If you would like to adopt Maggie, please fill out an adoption application.
You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her, or any of our other fosters dogs. Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters, by making a cash donation towards their care.

Oh what a little cutie!!
What is the process involved in getting this baby shipped to Newfoundland? She’s identical to my baby Lulu I lost last year to cancer!
Maggie is a doll, isn’t she! Your adoption application will still be considered even if you and your future furry family member live far apart. A “meet and greet” is mandatory and you will be responsible for all costs associated with getting to that meeting (i.e., gas, flights, hotels, meals, etc.) in the city where the foster dog is being cared for. If your application is approved and the dog must be transported to your home, you are fully responsible for all logistics and costs associated with that transport. If the transport involves flying the dog, the dog must fly in cabin (no cargo) in an airline approved soft sided carrier accompanied by you, the adopter.
