CCRT does adopt out dogs across the country and your adoption application will still be considered even if you and your future furry family member live far apart. A “meet and greet” is mandatory and you will be responsible for all costs associated with getting to that meeting (i.e., gas, flights, hotels, meals, etc.) in the city where the foster dog is being cared for. If your application is approved and the dog must be transported to your home, you are fully responsible for all logistics and costs associated with that transport. If the transport involves flying the dog, the dog must fly in cabin (no cargo) in an airline approved soft sided carrier accompanied by the adopter. Regarding age, we adopt out dogs no matter their age. However, if a dog has special needs and is in the winter of their life, they may be considered for permanent foster care with our group.

I am interested in adopting Milo. He’s absolutely adorable. He will be the only pet in our owned home. My 12 yr old son would be thrilled. We have a fenced backyard as well as a dog park up the street with separate pens for small and large dogs to socialize.
We can offer Milo a forever home where he will be well cared for and loved immensely. Please let me know when he’s available for adoption and when we can meet him.

We are still getting to know Milo but we’ll update his profile when he’s ready for his forever home. His updated profile will include a link to our online adoption application form, which is always available on our website here.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the process of adopting a dog?

It depends on a variety of things. First, we review the applications as they arrive and see if there is a potential match. From there, a Regional Coordinator will contact the applicant to discuss their application. If everything seems ok, we’ll move forward with a personal reference check and a vet reference check (if the applicant has pets or has had them recently). If that goes well, we’ll conduct a home visit and if everything is in order, a meet and greet and can be arranged. If that goes well, your complete application and checks are reviewed by the Committee and if they agree, the dog can be adopted by the applicant!

No, not yet. We give our foster dogs a chance to settle in so they can show us their true self. Only then can we assess the dog and get an idea of who they are! He is a furry one, isn’t he! He’s definitely Chihuahua, myabe some pug and….??
