Phoebe, a blonde super-sweet Chihuahua-mix, was found as a stray and transferred to CCRT by a shelter when no one claimed her.

In foster care, Phoebe is slowly coming out of her shell to reveal her delightful personality.  Her friendly, loving attitude toward humans and dogs has even won over the resident Chihuahua.  Phoebe is always up for playtime, whether with him or outside by herself with an imaginary playmate.

Sudden noises or movements send this timid, submissive girl running for cover, but she usually recovers quickly and wags her tail.  She has mostly overcome her fear of walking on tile flooring, and the foster family is working to help her with some other quirks.

Phoebe loves to cuddle, and she will tickle your ankles with her cold nose to let you know that she wants to be on your lap.  If you’re too busy, she’s happy to curl up at your feet and go to sleep, or she might nibble on your toes to let you know she loves you.

Phoebe’s idea of heaven is being free in her foster home’s small backyard to romp around like a jackrabbit and sniff every inch of it like a bloodhound.  She feels safe in familiar areas.  Leaving her foster home for a walk on leash is not something she’s ready to try.  A forever home with a safe, fully fenced backyard is a must for Phoebe so that she can get her exercise.  A condo or apartment is unsuitable for her at this time because she has not learned to walk on leash.

This gentle, submissive young girl needs a loving forever home with a laid-back environment where her adopter is home most of the time, not gone all day at work.  Her adopter must have the time, patience and ability, through positive reinforcement, to help build Phoebe’s confidence, continue her house-training and adapt to her idiosyncrasies.  Any children living in the forever home must be dog-savvy and at least 10 years of age.

If there is another dog in Phoebe’s forever home, she needs it to be gentle, young, playful and of similar size and energy level.  No cats, please.

Phoebe has been diagnosed with microphthalmia, and she does have vision.  She has had a wellness exam and a heartworm test (negative).  She is microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and she is spayed.

If you are interested in adopting Phoebe and you fit all of this description of her ideal forever home, please fill out an adoption application.  You can also purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her or any of our foster dogs.  Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our foster dogs by making a cash donation towards their care.
