We are saddened to announce that we have lost one of our most valuable and cherished volunteers, Candyce Charles.

Candyce has been a long time dedicated volunteer for CCRT encompassing roles on the Committee, Chairperson for many years and up until her passing she was still actively contributing to the operation of our Facebook group.

To say that she will be missed in an understatement. She was strong, determined, brave and a true inspiration to so many.

Candyce was a forthright and  decisive leader, compassionate and with a true focus on direction…..CCRT is here for the dogs. I remember one day she was discussing a particular issue with me, simply asked me my thoughts with a “please be honest” added. There was no point in trying to be delicate….just simply what needs to be considered to make the decision. She achieved results while taking everything into consideration. The focus always being on the best interests of the dogs involved.

Not only was Candyce involved with CCRT, she was also involved with the fight against Uveal Melanoma, a form of ocular cancer, since being diagnosed in 2017.  Her candid reports and postings while undergoing her treatments  and trials have been an inspiration to many who are fighting this same battle as she did. She was a pathfinder & guide throughout her journey, leading the way for others to hopefully find a cure.

In these same postings she shared her love of nature through her beautiful photos of plants & birds which held a special place in her heart. All inspiring and pointing out the beauty in this world.

There are so many words when someone passes……how does one sum up such a wonderful person’s life in a few words.

Candyce, we will miss you. All the dogs that passed thru CCRT & with your input found their forever homes….so many of them…they thank you too!

The night skies are brighter now with your star shining bright. Rest peacefully, Candyce.

In her own words….All that matters is love. LOVE That’s it. Loving Kindness.
