SHAYLA has been adopted!
Meet Shayla, a silky-haired beauty queen with a gorgeous chocolate coat! As you can see, the camera just loves this lady.
At 6 years old, Shayla came into our care after an owner surrender. Her current home was unable to care for her any longer, but it’s obvious that little Shayla was loved and adored throughout her short life.
Sweet, cuddly, and easy going is the best way to describe this beautiful girl.
Shayla is good with other dogs and has no issue with cats, but also seems to be fine hanging out on her own. She loves to follow her foster parents around and check out what they are doing. She really enjoys lounging around, snoozing on her people, or just lying flat out on her back with all four feet in the air snoring away (she gets pretty loud)! She is crate trained but like most Chihuahuas, is most comfortable sleeping on the bed.
Don’t say this to her face, but Shayla is a little overweight. Her foster home is working to bring her down a couple of pounds to a healthy size. She gets very excited when the leash comes out and really enjoys walks, so her weight should come down quickly. Shayla is fully house trained and hasn’t had any accidents since arriving at her foster home.
Like many small dogs, Shayla is not a fan of young children so a home with children over 12 is a must for this gal.
Though Shayla has only been in their care for a short time, her foster family reports that she is one cool chicky poo!
If you think Shayla would make a great sidekick, please fill out an adoption application. You can purchase a sweater and/or blanket for her, or any of our other fosters dogs.
Please consider becoming a CCRT Sponsorship Angel for any of our fosters by making a cash donation towards their care.

I am so in love with Shayla! She is so much like a wee one I had a few years ago!
I would like to adopt her as soon as she is ready please.
I have done some fostering and volunteering for rescues where I did home visits. And also did runs to Calgary to bring the dogs from the airport that came in from Mexico. So I do understand the process.
I can give her a very happy home. I currently have a small dog I rescued last June. Molly is a Yorkie/Maltese cross.
As you read on her short profile, she’s not ready for adoption, but stay tuned and we’ll post an update when she is.
Sorry to bother u again about Shayla. Is it possible that u can send me a quick email when she is ready for adoption or do I have to check the site every day?
We are unable to contact interested parties individually with updates about a particular dog. Please continue to monitor our website and when she’s ready for adoption, her profile will be placed in this section of our site.
Im very interested in this little one! I’m a 4th year veterinary student and have lots of experience with obese animals. In terms of her healthcare, I may be a good option.
Shayla was quite popular and we’re thrilled to let you know she has an adoption pending! But, many of our other special foster dogs would love a vet for a forever dad, feel free to submit an online application for one of them and a Regional Coordinator will be in touch!
